Ro's Skin Care Bootcamp:: Neutorgena Wave

As I've shared before I'm working hard to get my skin in tip top shape and we all know that having clean skin in part of the process.

There are several great machines that work to clean skin in a similar way to how the the Neutrogena Wave works but I understand that the Budget Beauty may not be able to drop $150-$200 on a fancy machine so until you can save up them coins beauties this is a product you'll want to use.

The Details::

• The vibrations help to clean your skin up to 10x deeper and as a result remove more makeup, dirt and oil
• The process removes dead skin which gives softer skin after the 1st use

The Pros

• Attractive Packaging and the directions were so easy to follow (I'm terrible w/directions ya'll)
• Battery is included...great for the budget beauty (me!!)
• The cleansing pads smell and feel great and come with a 2 week supply
• Waterproof for use in the shower
• Price::I found my wave for $9.99 can't beat that!

The Cons

• There's only one setting so you can't increase or decrease the intensity level
• Cleansing pads may have to be purchased multiple times

I'm giving the Neutrogena Wave a Ro's Rating of A!! I really like this device and it lived up to the claim of softer skin after one use.

Nailed::Getting healthy nails w/ Barielle

My nails are wretched I mean absolutely terrible. I have been without acrylic for quite some time and it took me a while to get my nails to a suitable length and level of strength. Since starting my new job as Counter Manager I've been shuffling boxes of inventory...moving my counter..fixing displays etc and it has caused major havoc on my nails!

As a result I'll be starting a strengthening and brightening system to bring my nails back to life using Barielle. The brand stands out as a leader in hand, nail and foot care and all of their products are "Three-Free."

30 Day Blog Challenge:: Day 3

Day 3:: Your idea of the perfect 1st date!

I have to be honest with you all and say that I have no idea what my perfect 1st date would be. Why? Well...I've been dating the same guy for the last 2 1/2 years and I just could not even imagine a date with someone else at this point. With that said, I'm going to do a little twist on this and tell you about our 1st date(s) AND a date I'd love for us to have if WE could have a mock 1st date.

Our 1st Date:: Super cheesy lol...we met for drinks at Ruby Tuesday's...what made it great was ever since that 1st date we've become great friends and grown to care about one another so much! After having drinks and appetizers he was headed for "boys night out" and I new he was feeling me when he called me after clubbing w/the guys. The next day he invited me to lunch AND asked me out again that Sunday (the day after the lunch date). It's a weekend I won't forget anytime soon and even though we've had knock down drag out fights...I've sent him to hell verbally a few times and I've at times shed crocodile tears from being mad...I would not trade the time we've spent for anything. Awww...OK enough mushy Ro!

Ideal 1st date:: (if we could do it again)
He'd bring flowers (I love flowers) then we'd have a picnic in the park and do a lot of talking and finish off the night with a hot air balloon ride and dinner on the water. Cute right??

I can finally get a Benz!:: Mercedes Benz Perfume that is

That's right beauties, Mercedes Benz will be launching a fragrance sometime in 2012. The luxury car brand has teamed up with the INCC Group (a huge perfume distributor). Not quite sure what smells they have in store for us but if I do purchase it TRUST me when I tell you it will be closest I get to Mercedes Benz ownership for a while.

Makeup Counter Confessions::Bad Bad Brows

I recently took a step forward and decided to pursue my love of beauty full time as a Counter Manager for a major beauty brand. In the few short weeks I've been cross training with my counter neighbors and seeing literally all types of women come in for consultations.

One thing that stands out is the Brow Abuse that I see! It's a NIGHTMARE!! Two tragic brow mishaps: 

Tattooed Brows: I'll never really understand tattooing makeup on your face but different strokes for different folks as they say BUT really, WHY would  you tattoo your brows on? I did a makeover on a lady with tattooed brows and goodness it was hard for me to make those faded look presentable. 

Shaved Brows: *Deep Sigh* Alright, putting a razor to your brows is like applying your false lashes with weave glue...simply terrible! I can't even count how many women come in with brows completely shaved off with the single line drawn in as a eyebrow *lol.* When is the last time you saw someone born with a black pencil line?   





Eyeliner as Eyebrows? I couldn't even make this up if I tried! A customer came in wearing Liquid eyeliner in place of a brow pencil...thank goodness my co-worker and I showed her the wonders of a brow pencil and how to achieve the proper look.

Ladies, if you're unsure of what to do when it comes to your brows PLEASE see a professional ASAP!
 
Keep in mind that this is a comical release of some of the things I see at the counter AND for every bad case then are 2 women that come in with impeccable skin so you certainly get the good with the bad.
It's really true that counter experience is priceless...I'll be making Makeup Counter Confessions a regular part of the blog so be sure to check back in.

Life as a MUA:: Makup for Kindred Family Soul

Myself and Kindred

For as long as I can remember I've always LOVED makeup and playing it. About 4 years ago an Aunt suggested that I do makeup professionally because I applied it so well to myself. At that time I started researching and studying brands, makeup artist Icons and the beauty business. Fast forward to March 2009, something just clicked and I started taking classes and really diving into makeup. I went full force with Creatively Yours Makeup Artistry in 2009 and since that time I've been blessed with multiple jobs/clients,photo shoots and even an internship!

There is nothing like being recognized by others that you're doing a good job and last week I was honored to do makeup for Aja, one half of National Recording group Kindred the Family Soul! I've been a HUGE fan of their music from the beginning, so imagine the joy I felt when I found out I'd be working with them.


I won't bore you with a long post (I'll break up what I learned into several posts and tweets) about what I learned,but the experience was priceless and yet another confirmation that I was destined to study and demonstrate the art of makeup.

I still have a LONG way to go but gosh, the process has been amazing! To all new and aspiring MUAs NEVER give up...keep pushing and you'll get there.
