Nailed:: Independence Day Fireworks

Monday, July 04, 2011

Happy 4th of July Beauties!! Check out this awesome guest post and nail art from my beauty blogging buddy Shaina over at Haute Lacquer! My schedule has been all over the place these days BUT I promise I'll back to daily posts by next week...thanks for the support!

 Hi everyone! I'm so excited to be writing a post for Creatively Yours and all it's wonderful readers!

I'll introduce myself first. My name is Shaina and I've always been into nail polish, even when I was a kid. My mom would always paint my nails for me since I didn't know how. As I grew up I started painting my own nails. By the time I was in Junior High I was changing my nails once, sometimes twice a week! My obsession with nail polish didn't really start until November of 2010. At that point I was following nail blogs, admiring nail designs and really stocking up on nail polish. Fast forward 6 months--I have over a hundred bottles and I've gotten to really love nail art!

Now lets get to the manicure! When I sat down to do this manicure I had no idea what to do. My mind was completely blank but then I thought of the upcoming US holiday, Independence Day, and quickly started pulling out polishes and tools!

This design was inspired by the professional nail artist Robin Moses but I did change it up a little to make it my own. This was so fun and easy to create!

I hope you like it!

(Don't mind the weird cracking on the middle finger. I have no idea what that's about.)

*Up close-to see detail*
The Details:
For this manicure I used China Glaze Pelican Gray as the light gray base. Then I took my nail art brushes and randomly drew lines in the design of fireworks. I started off with China Glaze Hey Sailor (red), China Glaze First Mate (blue), and Wet N Wild French White Creme (white). For the glitter fireworks I used Funky Fingers Sand and Stilettos. Afterwards I added Born Pretty rhinestones to the base of each coordinating firework. For the flag design I used the same white and red but this blue is Nicole by OPI Nicole...Spotted. The stars are tattoo nail decals from bigRuby.

That's it! It may look time consuming or difficult but it really isn't! The fireworks are especially easy. Once the glitter is added it really reminds you of the fireworks you see on the 4th of July.

I hope you like this design and maybe even try it yourself. Thanks for reading!
