Ladies: it’s getting to be that time of the year when the sun heats up and threatens to melt all our beautiful makeup away! It was a nice and sunny 80 degrees here in the Nation’s Capital today and I was shining like a Christmas Tree…and it was NOT cute.
All of a sudden the light bulb went off and I remembered that I needed to change my makeup routine for the Spring and Summer heat.
Here are a few changes I make to Sunproof my face from the Sun
1. Ditch the Liquid foundation- Because I take really great care of my skin and have few blemishes etc. I’m ok with just wearing a powder over my primed and well moisturized face. In the winter I struggle with really dry skin and wearing powder in the winter would have me looking like a chocolate Pillsbury Dough Boy! **Keep in mind that you will have to cater your coverage needs based upon your skin, and personal needs…this works for me.**

2. Apply Primer Daily- I admit, I’m guilty of not putting primer on every day. I like to get all the sleep I can in the morning so I’m often doing the quick makeup routine. **Plus, between me, you and the lamp-post, there is no one in my office worth getting dolled up for and using my good products!** BUT now that the sun is out a girl like me is ready to hit happy hours and social events right after work, so I have to be sure my face is on point. Using a good primer ensures that your makeup stays in place and you look fresh all day! I suggest using a facial primer as well as a shadow primer for the days when you want the eyes to POP! A makeup setting spay also will help to keep your makeup in place.

3. Blot Papers- Let’s face it, the sun can be a killer sometimes and no matter what you do sweat and moisture is unavoidable. For days when the moisture is building up on your face and you’re looking like Rudolph be sure to keep some makeup blotting papers on hand.

4. Exfoliate- It should go without saying that your skin needs to be exfoliated so that your pores aren’t clogging and causing breakouts. Depending on your skin type, you should exfoliate at least once weekly **Please consult with your skin care professional for specifics related to your skin condition*

So, how do you switch up your makeup routine for the Spring?
